They arrest in Central Havana the alleged killer of a 16-year-old teenager.

The alleged murderer of Melani García Lorenzo, the 16-year-old Cuban teenager killed last weekend in Havana, was captured by forces of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) and the Directorate of Intelligence (DTI).

According to the official Facebook profile La Página de Mauro Torres 2.0, the man, identified as Pedro Julio Serrate Corrales, 22 years old, was arrested in the municipality of Centro Habana. Upon learning this news, the victim’s aunt, Lourdes Torres, shared an emotional message in reference to the arrest.

“Thank you again to everyone, for your support, each message gave me strength to continue this fight. Each call gave me strength. Thanks to all the organs of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) in a general sense, who told me to trust that everything would be resolved, I was very desperate, but together we achieved it,” she wrote on Facebook.

In addition to sharing a photograph of the suspect in the same post, the relative also said: “It’s the end of the first chapter. I continue with my strength as a warrior woman to ask for the maximum penalty. My justice still stands. I will not stop. Thousands of blessings for all the people and their families who joined in this pain.”

The information published about this case on social networks indicates that García Lorenzo was murdered by her ex-partner, they were parents of a boy who will soon turn two years old.

According to the account of Anet Lorenzo Villalba, the victim’s mother, the aforementioned individual kidnapped Melani with the child. The mother made more than 20 calls to the PNR to report this event, but did not receive the expected response.

“Since 1:00 in the morning I started calling 106 and the operator told me that the car was on its way. I made 22 calls and not once did the patrol come,” commented Lorenzo Villalba, also adding that she went to two PNR stations where they told her that the officers were busy with cases of theft and drugs.

After a wait that lasted approximately 12 hours, the body of García Lorenzo was finally found at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. Her lifeless corpse lay at number 160 Coliseo Street, between Woodbury and Cortés, in the area of La Corea, belonging to the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo.

The Legal Medicine report confirmed that Melani died due to the brutal blows inflicted by Serrate Corrales in the same house where her father and a cousin were present.

Content creator, Niover Licea, shared chilling details on his Instagram account about the moments of horror the young mother experienced. He denounced that the girl was beaten with the child as a witness and her body had been placed in a sack in an attempt to hide the evidence.
