Pedro Luis Frómeta, owner of a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) in the province of Holguín, was murdered in his residence during a violent robbery that occurred in the early hours of last Sunday.
Pedro Luis Frómeta, owner of a small private enterprise in the province of Holguín, was murdered in his residence during a violent robbery occurred in the early hours of last Sunday, reported the digital portal 14ymedio.
A source close to the family of the victim confirmed to the independent portal that the entrepreneur was transferred to the Vladímir Ilich Lenin General Hospital at 3:00 a.m., where it was impossible to reverse his condition due to the severity of the wounds and the loss of blood.
The newspaper managed to collect the testimony of Hortensia, a woman who was in the emergency room of the hospital and who learned of the events through Frómeta’s own family,
The account indicates that the victim, who was nicknamed “Más o menos”, had woken up due to noises and the barking of his dog. While investigating, he encountered two thieves and, during the struggle, his wife, who was with him in the residence, tried to call for help by phone.
One of the criminals snatched the device from the woman and locked her in a room of the house. Hortensia indicated that, although the wife managed to make a call asking for help, by the time assistance arrived, the thieves had already escaped and Frómeta had lost his life.
The version provided by Hortensia to 14ymedio indicates that the criminals took several objects, without specifying which, and that the victim was left seriously injured, with a “ear cut off and the head split open in the middle.”
Another version of the incident was disseminated on social media by the YouTuber Niover Licea, who claimed that the thieves were looking for the money from the recent sale of a vehicle by Frómeta.
According to the information obtained by Licea, the victim was stabbed seven times and the assailants did not take any items from the residence.
Hortensia, on her part, did not mention anything about the sale of a car, but agrees that the thieves were looking for Frómeta’s money, who dedicated himself to repairing vehicles for sale and ran a café in his home.
Both versions agree that the house of the entrepreneur had good security, with locks, alarms, and possibly cameras. However, the criminals managed to bypass that system.
At the moment, the age of the victim and the name of his business are unknown, although some publications on social media suggest that Pedro Luis Frómeta was 57 years old.
